Crayon Fun

After seeing a photo of a crayon tutorial on Pinterest I thought I would give it a try.  Why not, I already had a broken and peeled crayon collection from my little ones.  In the photo tutorial it showed chopped crayon shavings on a cutting board.  Wanting to simplifiy and not have to clean up a crayon mess I simply broke up the already broken and peeled crayon pieces.  I then oiled the insides of a mini cupcake pan with cooking oil and filled the broken pieces about halfway inside.  I baked at 350 degrees for about 3 to 5 minutes, I then turned the oven off and let the pan sit in the oven until it was completely cooled.  Actually the reason being the oven mists were upstairs in the dryer, so it worked out great.  It was so easy, I simply flipped over the pan and they fell right out.  My little ones really enjoyed them.  My youngest did try to take a bite out of one!  Even my teen daughter joined in on the fun thinking these were just the coolest thing.  After they were done coloring my youngest carried the crayons around on a plate all evening. 

Crayons are such fun and the only thing better than crayons are bright beautiful photos of crayons!  Here are some neat examples of beautiful photography of crayons and fun crayons.  Enjoy!

Beautiful photographs with sumptuous fresh feeling interiors to inspire.   A lovely blend of shabby chic, cottage, modern and French in a white monochromatic palette invokes a crisp clean awe.  I love how each photograph captures light so beautifully using windows and/or mirrors.  So relaxing.

Ruffles Surprise

I was happily going through my lovely stash of scraps and left over ruffle pieces when I pulled out a completed ruffle 186 1/2 inches long and it suddenly hit me!  I had made the ruffle for the bottom ruffle of my dress design when I realized too late my width measurement was too narrow!    Oops a huge dissapointment then became a happy mistake.  I signed up for a 30 challenge to list something new every day in my shop over the next 30 days with one of my Etsy teams The Brigade.  This was the whole reason I was going through my scraps to come up with a new project for the challenge!  Sometimes a little push is all you need to get your creative juices flowing.  Thank you Cindy for the little push, err kick in the booty. :)  I'm thinking of making a tutorial on how to make my ruffle garland, anybody interested?

Isn't That Funny

It's been such a lovely weekend.  I transplated several of my indoor garden plants, but more about that later in another blog post.  I was just over at marthastewart.com heading for the crafts and began reading the 1st post and thought, what? Hey! Haha!  In a post titled Make It : Pink Party by Blake Ramsey posted 07/22/2011,

 "For Athena's birthday last month, we based the theme around one of Athena's favorite colors- bright pink. We all know she loves cats, so we had some special kitty appearances on the table as well."

Wow, that sounds familiar!  Of course I posted this comment, "How did you know, lol? My name is Athena, I love pink and adore kitties, but my birthday isn't for a few months! Loved this of course! "  See, here is my logo, LOL!

Isn't that funny?  So who is the other Athena?  She is Athena Preston, Senior Associate Craft Editor.

A Lovely Plan For A Weekly Lineup

I have really enjoyed blogging and I'm ready to create a lineup for my blog.  I love the idea of a blog hop and have decided to host one on my blog weekly every Wednesday!  I love Wednesday because to me midweek is more relaxing than the beginning or the end of the week.  So this Wednesday July 27th will be the first Relax and Read Blog Hop Wednesday!

I'm also considering a monthly Twitter and/or Facebook hop as well.  Any thoughts on this would be super appreciated!  I'd love to hear what your schedule is as I'm still looking for wonderful ideas to fill my weekly schedule. I'm looking forward to hearing from you and thank you! :)

Delicate Glitter

Lovely photographs in delicate sparkle, champagnes, nude pinks and golds.  These dresses, heels and home deco are just so reminiscent of 1930's vintage evening gowns and lingerie.  I love that these feminine colors are in fashion everywhere.  I adore how each photograph magnificently captures that perfect sparkle.  My favorites are the two that add that extra sparkle using mirrors.  For subject matter, the shoes, definitely those gorgeous heels.  Enjoy!
