Isn't That Funny
It's been such a lovely weekend. I transplated several of my indoor garden plants, but more about that later in another blog post. I was just over at marthastewart.com heading for the crafts and began reading the 1st post and thought, what? Hey! Haha! In a post titled Make It : Pink Party by Blake Ramsey posted 07/22/2011,
"For Athena's birthday last month, we based the theme around one of Athena's favorite colors- bright pink. We all know she loves cats, so we had some special kitty appearances on the table as well."
Wow, that sounds familiar! Of course I posted this comment, "How did you know, lol? My name is Athena, I love pink and adore kitties, but my birthday isn't for a few months!
Loved this of course!
" See, here is my logo, LOL!

Isn't that funny? So who is the other Athena? She is Athena Preston, Senior Associate Craft Editor.

Delicate Glitter
| Photo's via Tumblr and Elle. * |
Lovely photographs in delicate sparkle, champagnes, nude pinks and golds. These dresses, heels and home deco are just so reminiscent of 1930's vintage evening gowns and lingerie. I love that these feminine colors are in fashion everywhere. I adore how each photograph magnificently captures that perfect sparkle. My favorites are the two that add that extra sparkle using mirrors. For subject matter, the shoes, definitely those gorgeous heels. Enjoy!

Marie Antoinette
Photo's via Tumblr and Pinterest *
Marie Antoinette inspiration in dreamy French blues and pink vintage. Just the prettiest subject matter! I wonder if the photographers were just giddy photographing such pretty things! If not, they should be or at least I am just looking at them. Each photo is just perfect!
Enjoy!

When I Take the Newsletter Plunge
When I take the newsletter plunge I want to do right. Believe it or not email still reigns king compared to other forms of social media in generating sales. Or at least that is what the statistic's show in the latest articles I've read, reigning in at 30%. I am going to want people to sign up for my newsletter, right? Then I'm going to want an awesome Call to Action. A what what? In reading lots of marketing blogs I've learned what a call to action is. It's a response you want users to complete. So an awesome call to action encourages users to act. Let me show you an example of one call to action that recently sucked me in.
There are many techniques used in an effective call to action. In the example here handmadesuccess.com identified my problem or my need and offered a solution as an added bonus for just subscribing to their newsletter! Did you notice the language they used? "Get Instant Access when you sign up for the Handmade Success newsletter." Yep, I signed up! In looking at their call to action I discovered other things that attracted me and caught my attention. I identified color, I love these colors and I'm a sucker for pink. Have you ever thought of color as another language?
I also identified a little bit of whimsy. When looking for some photo helps for this blog post I check Etsy first, of course. When cruising at mad speed though pages on Etsy, this photo made me stop and go back for another look.
It's full of whimsy, has all the right colors and quite colorful. Come on, it's a picture of a cupcake, of course I went back for more! ;) Well, here's some food for thought when you're ready to take the newsletter plunge.

Sweet Valentine
![]() |
| This photo is the back of the skirt originally made from recycling ruffle scraps, hence the seam in the ruffle. New skirts will not have the seam and not be made from recycled pieces. |
I decided to merge my love of altered art and mixed media making this skirt my canvas. Inspired by Valentine's Day I made an applique from a vintage Valentine. A lovely fabric print reminiscent of a vintage hankie is ruffled behind the vintage Valentine. Sweet buttons are a lovely touch and serve no functional use. A sweet bow is made from polka dot chiffon and topped with a button. Vintage inspired prints are mixed and frosted like a cupcake with girly ruffles. ♥ VintagePrecious

Soft Dreamy Colors Mint And Pink
One of my favorite places to go is the antique store, my vintage collection would attest to this. Vintage is wonderful for inspiration. I love the soft dreamy colors in the Dresden collectible figurine in soft muted minty green and pale pink. Vintage gowns in sweet shades of delicate pink & a lovely lamp in mint. So lovely in person a cell phone couldn't capture their heavenly quality. ♥ VintagePrecious

The Making Of A Pink Princess Dress
Pretty in pink, a custom order in all pink. Using math to determine ruffle lengths and widths they are cut, hems are finished & ruffles perfectly formed. A dreamy rose ruffle will soon be Marie Antoinette style ruffles adorning the front & back of the dress skirt. Lovely shirring on the bodice back is wonderful for growth and petite frames. To be continued...
